An Aside for 4-H Stuffs :D

Just a quick post, it’s event season for us and i’ve had an event nearly every weekend this summer! It’s been wonderful!

So, Just in case a 4-H person Needs them, I created a spreadsheet linked (ish) to a Scoresheet for herdsmanship.
If you number the clubs, you can place individual scores on the sheets 2-25 in the workbook, and they’ll add the daily scores up for you, then place them on the first sheet and add the daily scores up to total all scores to make it easier to figure out who won, with no adding errors. The Daily Herdsmanship scoresheet is based on the Lewis County, Washington Scoresheets that have been in use for over a decade.
These are freeware – and any and all edits are wonderful – if you use them and edit anything, i’d like to see it!

Organizing, updating

I’m Working on Updating and Organizing everything here. Mostly, I’ve been fixing the Works in Progress page (which is now actual works in progress) and added my Finished Works page. And now, I’m working on my links – Removing broken ones, organizing them better, and directing people to the homepages where possible instead of the page I was on when I decided to bookmark :D

My Pattern Critique will be finished and updated (I was given a few of the patterns!), and instead of just being in the blog, I’ll make a special page for it! that way, it’s easier to access!

Hopefully, I’ll have stuffs from An Tir’s Urslemas up, at least a story and hopefully purchases!

Also, I’ve started getting into SCA Equestrian stuffs, so more research into that’ll be posted, as well!

Busy Busy Busy!

It’s the Tourney Season for SCA, and so I’ve been so busy i can’t hardly spit. Made a ton of bead-woven necklaces (it’s relaxing) for Largesse for Their Excellencies of Glymm Mere, and am working on a new set of petticoat bodies for my self. It’s fun stuffs!
http://beadsmagic.com is a wonderful site for bead-weaving patterns, but it slows my browser down so badly that it takes hours to download all the patterns. The patterns are easy to follow and really lovely, so it’s worth it to me.

I’ll post Pictures of everything I’ve done soonish, i hope. Brains are hard to use right now!

Simplicity, McCalls, and Burda costume patterns and are they period? Or at least Close? Part 2 – Butterick

So iIm not as wordy about these, but they’re not patterns that really inspire words – Butterick’s ‘Historical’ patterns leave MUCH to be desired.

Butterick 5440

Decent and would work for Renaissance faires. Not so much for SCA. Less ornate, maybe take off the tabs and change up the sleeves and it might work for tudor. The ruff and cuff patterns might work, but really, not so much. Not even the headdress, unfortunately.

Butterick 5733

All of these little pretties would work. The armbands and glove thingy would have to be made better for armor, but for looks, it’s all pretty nice. Just steer clear of the fringes… :D

Butterick 6196

Make a different chemise, and this would work for a commoners outfit.

Butterick 5371

All would work for pretty little accessories :D I love accessory patterns!

Butterick 5008

The top two views would work beautifully for a woman’s chemise as well as a mans shirt – make it longer for the chemise, and maybe add some blackwork around the collar and cuffs for both men and women to make it more beautiful :)

Butterick 4827

Absolutely lovely – nice for early period. The seamlines aren’t correct but it’d look period from ten feet away, so who cares?

Buttterick 4669

The top right one isn’t even close, but the rest, if you get rid of the little beard at the bottom, would work nicely for bodices. The one on the bottom right has a bit too much lacing, but if you like it, you like it. Try spiral or ladder lacing rather than crisscross. It’ll look better and it’s soo much easier to deal with :D

Butterick 4574

Take the hideous collar off the undershirt and avoid the hat, and this isn’t a bad mens outfit. Not great, but none of the menswear from these pattern companies are very good..

Butterick 4486

The first view would work if you didn’t lace up the front, you tie it. The others, not so much.

Butterick 4377

Cloak is nice. Not sure about the dress – it’s pretty, and it might work.

Butterick 4254

The top view corsets would work for tudor and elizabethan. More for the elizabethan, though. The bottom two are victorian and totally not period.
